Reiki is a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as energy healing. It originated in Japan in the early 20th century and was developed by Mikao Usui. The word “Reiki” is derived from two Japanese words: “Rei,” meaning universal, and “Ki,” meaning life energy.

Reiki practitioners believe that energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or emotional pain. Over time, these energy blocks can cause illness. Reiki aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure.
